I’m working with a special group of new leaders who are trying hard to guide others, but a little worried they are trying to do it all.
Tremendous interview response from Simon Sinek, best selling author and TED Talk “rock star” shared an insightful gem —
“Some good leaders are rough around the edges and some leaders are difficult. Some have difficult personalities and some are really nice to be around, but those are not the qualifications. The qualifications are their desire to see us achieve more, their desire to push us to be the best we can be. Not for selfish gain, but because they believe that we have something to offer.”
Whenever I’ve done my best work, I was believed in, included and valued. That defines an invested membership.
Maybe it’s time to NOT worry about these new leaders and potential burnout or the leadership vacuum left behind. Instead, the leadership challenge is asking the leaders to find at least “something” everyone else has to offer.
The Good Leader Challenge = Let Everyone Share Their Something!
