We feel alive when our actions match our intentions. It’s that pumping of the fist and “YES!” We’ve hit the groove of authentic leadership. Particularly for women in leadership at home and at work the list of priorities seems never ending. This year I’m focusing on my “To-Be’s” because that is where the results are found. There will always be “the list” and opportunities to get more “stuff” done.
Instead of a litany of “T0-Do’s” this year I pledge to stay true to my “To-Be’s”.
This is my 2015 To-Be List.
Each To-Be has a subset. Here is the long version which is posted many places as a friendly reminder of the priorities.
To Be Successful I Must Be . . .
Well-rested. Go to bed on the same day I wake up.
Physically Active. Walk a minimum number of steps every day. Build my flexibility = think dancer.
Loving Wholeheartedly. Keep family first (including myself). Find the beauty in everyone. Seek first to understand and second to be understood. Serve others without a scorecard.
Stretching Intellectually. Learn at every opportunity. Value the difficulty in understanding new things.
Professionally Authentic. Serve organizations that match my passions and purpose to build a better world where people can become who they are. Be proud of the person on my pillow every night.
These are the key elements for me to be authentic at home and at work. The things I say “yes” to and commit to invest energy to help achieve my “T0-Be’s”.
What are your “To-Be’s”? Grab a pen and scratch piece of paper and write them down. Intuitively you know what makes you successful. You know when you are thriving. Commit to these things.
Do what you can in 2015 To-Be your best.
