A legacy of leadership in action!
A perfect example of someone taking the step to make something happen, instead of simply wishing it were true. That was my experience with the Wisconsin Park & Recreation Association Leadership Academy.
Every attendee was truly engaged and spoke with such pride for the experience, the organization, and the team that makes this happen. A short conversation with Ron Grall, Director of Parks & Rec in Waukesha, WI explained how this special experience became a reality.
Ten years ago Ron attended a National Leadership Academy and found it extremely valuable. He wished more colleagues could have this opportunity and he did something about it. Instead of simply saying, “We should have this opportunity in our state” and moving on to other priorities, Ron built a team to make it happen. Today they say, “We did create this opportunity in our state.”
The program is nine years old and boasts a hefty collection of alumni and dedicated participants who keep coming back year after year.
It’s a special place where those eager for professional development and a richer experience come to build long lasting friendships and support systems. Having lunch with them feels like a reunion of kindred spirits celebrating one another’s successes.
Congratulations to everyone a part of the Leadership Academy. And congratulations to Ron who wished for something and then made it happen.
What have you wished to be true?
Do you need to commit the next step?
What legacy are you leaving?
