Excellence – What a Goal
When Barbara Walters asked Oprah if she suffered much discrimination . . . Oprah said “I found early in life there is no discrimination against excellence.”
Excellence is a wonderful goal – particularly for the organizational leader. Too often too many of us are too busy to take too much time to be too thorough. It is TOO much. The result may be a lot of work is done, but not to the caliber or standard that is possible.
Many of you — our friends and colleagues — are starting your year of service with tremendous enthusiasm for the future. Let your enthusiasm inspire you to action! Excellence starts NOW. It’s doing the small things today in a precise and thorough fashion. It’s following thru now on what you plan to do. It’s staying on top of our responsibilities. What is the ONE thing you could do right now to increase your level of excellence. Is it a phone call? An e-mail? A letter? Is it making a plan? Great! Now do it. After all, there is no discrimination against excellence.
